"I want to take this time to thank our Creator for the 12,000 Native Americans that served in the military during World War I. Four American Indians serving in the 142nd Infantry of the 36th Texas-Oklahoma National Guard Division received the Croix de Guerre medal from France. Not only did those brave Native American soldiers protect us so that we can enjoy our freedom but they also battled hard here in the United States so that their own children would have citizenship in the country that they bravely fought for," stated 2016 Presidential Candidate Robert Ornelas

Powerful and fit like a boxer, 43-year-old Hispanic/Native American Presidential candidate Robert Ornelas uses music to rap with students in the ‘hood. “I’m working with a program called PACE (Promoting Academics through Creative Expression) and we go into every single LA Unified School District school to promote academics through the art of hip hop. I encourage kids of all ages to stay in school, go to college, start a business, buy homes.”
Ornelas and his group, the “SOG (Sons Of God) Crew” from Anaheim releases their fourth album, Fighting for Love on May 20. “The whole concept is that we’re fighting for love, for the ones we love: our family, our community, our neighbors. My sphere of influence is the whole country right now.”

This was the third time that we have visited Riverside High School in our eighteen year career. We were brought in to motivate the kids with our Hip Hop presentation talking to them of the issues of suicide and hopelessness. I have been working with Thomas Heck and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti throughout the worse communities in Los Angeles promoting academics through musical expressions of late. The same way that we reach students from the Los Angeles Unified School District is the same way that we reach Native students from the federal boarding school in Anadarko, Oklahoma. We have had amazing results working at Riverside High School thanks to principal Tim Yeahquo. During school assembly I was a motivational speaker inviting students to evening gospel event. The best part of event was when I asked the students to salute the Army representatives. At that moment the entire school gladly responded with honor and even shouted with their own Native warrior cry.

My job is to give the kids knowledge and tools to accomplish their goals. As a coach i understand that I can help improve their skills, encourage them to perform to their best ability, develop strong character, and help them gain confidence. It gives me great joy to see our first year players compete with our Allstar kids.
